Alsace Grand Cru Florimont
The great Florimont flourishes on a hillside of limestone-marl.
On a hillside above Ingersheim, with a relatively pebbly soil of limestone-marl, the Grand Cru Florimont flourishes in excellent conditions. It is found in the acclaimed Colmar ellipse with advantageous meteorological conditions — the annual rainfall in this area is very low, around 550 mm (21 inches). The Florimont owes its reputation to the lords of the Middle Ages, particularly the Hohlandsbergs, who appreciated this terroir and sang its praises throughout the county. It is recognizable by its balance, fullness and finish. Thanks to their persistence and noble origins, these are elegant and refined wines.
Our Alsace Grand Cru Florimont Wolfberger comes in one variety, GEWURZTRAMINER.
Did you know?
Florimont means “flowery mountain” in English. Mediterranean botanical flora and rare species develop on this terroir which has been planted with grapevines since the arrival of the Romans. In the past, the ground was covered with anemones in March and in June with wild orchids, hence its name. Today thyme and oregano continue to mingle their perfumes with those of the grapes.
