Seasonal wines
This range is made up of wines for each season.
Wines for each season
This range offers different Alsace wines at different times of the year, combined with food that matches the wines in those different periods, be it when leaves are falling or flowers are blooming.
In Fall, with the Saisons Fauves
The name refers to the tawny or fawn colors seen at the beginning of autumn, when the trees are still leafy and the setting sun limns the leaves gold and orange. It’s a return to the autumn range that Wolfberger relaunched in 2013 with just a Pinot Gris.
The Pinot Gris Saisons Fauves 2012 shows a golden color. On the palate this Pinot Gris is supple with fruity notes of cherry plums and honeyed peaches with a subtle touch of vanilla. This white wine is perfect with foie gras poêlé (pan-fried foie gras), duck breast and fruit as well as veal in sauce and a Baeckaoffe (an Alsatian slow-cooked vegetable and meat stew) made with wild game. The Pinot Gris Saisons Fauves will keep from one to three years.
In Winter, the Gewurztraminer Solstice d’Hiver
With a brilliant yellow robe with glints of gold, this Gewurztraminer reveals a nose of exotic fruit such as litchi and banana, with the zesty warmth of faraway places. The attack is supple, with a beautiful roundness in the mouth and spicy flavors which linger in the long, persistent finish.
In Springtime and Summer with the Belles Saisons
When beautiful weather finally arrives, our palates naturally turn to lighter, refreshing wines. It’s in this spirit Wolfberger has made these wines, opting for crisp, fruity, lively white wines and, for the Pinot Noir, by a short maceration period giving the wine a light rosé color, with small fruit and a slightly acid aroma.
Our Belles Saisons wines are offered in three varietals: AUXERROIS (new since 2013!), MUSCAT AND PINOT NOIR ROSÉ.
