Awards at the Vinalies Internationales

The 26th annual Vinalies Internationales took place in Paris from February 27^th to March 3^rd.

Of the highest expertise, Vinalies Internationales is a competition held with the participation of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, the International Union of Oenologists in France and VINOFED, the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits competitions. Participation is limited to only the best-known oenologists and wine professionals in the countries taking part.

Vinalies Internationales medals are internationally recognized. They identify the wines by their sensory qualities, independent of their geographic origin. Each Vinalies medalist receives a commentary drawn up by the president of the jury concerned.

This year, the 26^th Vinalies Internationales took place from February 27^th to March 3^rd, 2020, and brought together more than 2,959 wines from 45 different countries.

Ranking the Trophies

The Trophy of Vinalies Internationales rewards those wines that receive the best rating in each category.

Wolfberger’s Fleur de Bière® Originale outshined the other competitors in the Eaux-de-Vie. Made from a bière de gard distilled in copper stills, Fleur de Bière® Originale received a gold medal as well as the Trophy Eaux-de-Vie at the Vinalies Internationales.

” Wolfberger is a large, successful co-op winery in Alsace, and I particularly like this inventive blend. It includes three varieties, led by highly aromatic Riesling and Muscat with some pinot gris to bring weight. Expect lifted muscat-driven orange blossom and lavender florality, a hint of riesling petrol and generous pear/pineapple fruit. It is medium bodied, off-dry but nicely zesty and tart-edged. A bit coarse and bitter but very tasty. The length is excellent.”

Top 10 Best Effervescents in the World 2016

To kick off this year of festivities and new products, Wolfberger previewed its Crémant d’Alsace “Cuvée 115.” Voted among the Top 10 Best Effervescents in the World 2016 (Top 10 des Meilleurs Effervescents du Monde 2016), an international competition of 540 samples from 24 countries, the Crémant d’Alsace “Cuvée 115” crowns this anniversary year.

The profile of this Crémant d’Alsace lies among the classic Wolfberger staples. Golden with long-lasting, fine bubbles, the nose is subtle and expressive of crisp white fruit, with aromas of white flowers and a touch of lemon. The palate detects toasty notes, with a fresh and frank attack. Good balance is maintained, with a long aromatic persistence on toasty, fruity notes.

From today on, the “Cuvée 115”, proudly sporting the Gold Medal in the Best Effervescents in the World, will commemorate this festive year with panache. It can keep company with any and all convivial occasions, from aperitif to dessert. Perfect with fish and shellfish, your meals will benefit from its finesse and elegance. Dedicated to our 400 winegrowers and our technical team, Wolfberger’s “Cuvée 115” is a new winemaking achievement that rewards all of the work provided by the Wolfberger “family.”

Year’s Best Alsace by Wine & Spirits Magazine – December 2016

Wine & Spirits magazine blind panels tasted 260 new-realease Alsace Wines over the past 12 months. Joshua Greene, the critic for Alsace wines, rated 46 as exceptional (90+) and 15 as Best Buys. In the list, 3 Wolfberger wines have been tasted and rated !

Canberra International Riesling Challenge 2016

Wolfberger got a Silver medal for the Riesling 2015 and a Bronze medal for the Crémant d’Alsace Brut Riesling.

This year, the standards of entries were very high with 366 medals in total, 86 Gold, 112 Silver and 168 Bronze.

Two Wolfberger wines have been awarded during the Wine of the Year Competition 2016 organised in Finland by Wine Society. For this 19th edition, 650 wines have been tasted and listed in 20 different categories.

Two Wolfberger’s wines have been rewarded at the Wine of the Year Competition 2016. Organized in Finland by the Wine Society, 650 wines divided into 20 categories was presented to the competition.

– Gold medal was awarded to our Riesling Grand Cru Steingrubler 2012.

– Our Riesling Grand Cru Rangen 2010 got the Award of honorary mention.
